GazeDialPlate

GazeDialPlate is a Windows10 app using Microsoft's GazeAPI to demonstrate smooth pursuit-based gaze interfaces. This means that the app requires a build-in or attached remote eye tracker.

It is available in the Microsoft Store: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9P2954D2L0T4.

Privacy Statement

There is no commercial interest behind this app. The app does not collect any data. Actually, the 'internet services' are deactivated in this app. On the first start the app will ask for permission to access the eye tracker, and this seems to be the reason why Microsoft demands this privacy statement.

App Purpose

GazeDialPlate demonstrates how smooth pursuit eye movements can be used for computer input. The big advantage of smooth pursuit gaze interaction is that there is no need for calibration. Standard gaze interfaces are based on dwell-time and require a calibration to the individual. This is a big obstacle for public use.

UWP programs require to install certificates and this seems to be an obstacle for my research colleagues. Therefore the GazeDialPlate is available in the Microsoft Store.

The app does not provide any useful functions - it is just a demonstration.

App Usage

Operating the app is hopefully self-explaining. The use of the option 'gaze cursor' is not recommended, except for checking the eye tracker.
